This week, our group received the project brief and began developing ideas for our concept. After discussing different possibilities, we decided to create a dance-mat style product that could generate and store energy while a child is using it. I found this idea interesting because it combines physical activity, sustainability, and interactive design in a way that could be both educational and fun for children.

My role in the group was to explore how we could design the app that would connect to the dance mat, as well as begin market research. This helped me start thinking more carefully about how a physical product and a digital interface need to work together. It made me realise that the app is not just an extra feature, but an important part of the overall user experience, as it could motivate children, track progress, and make the product more engaging.
Although I do not usually enjoy group projects, because I prefer working independently and at my own pace, this experience felt more positive than expected. Once we started sharing ideas, I became more enthusiastic because the group worked in a way that still allowed individual responsibility while contributing to one cohesive outcome.
Going forward, I need to learn more about app planning, user needs, and how to make sure the digital side of the project is suitable for the target audience.
